Snow white and the seven dwarfses un film de animación de origen estadounidense del año 1937, el 1º largometraje de animación incluido dentro del cannon deClásicosde Disney, de la productora de Walt. Este film fue dirigido por David Hand, William Cottrell, Larry Morey, Perce Pearce y Ben Sharpsteen, con un guión en el que intervinieron 8 personas y lamúsicaa cargo de Frank Churchill, Paul Smith y Leigh Harline. En las voces originales participaron Adriana Caselotti, Lucille La Verne, Harry Stockwell, Pinto Colving, Roy Atwell, Stuart Buchanan, Billy Gilbert y Ottis Harlan entre otros.

Este film se basa en un cuento de los populares hermanos Grimm publicado en Alemania con el nombre deScheewittchen, aparecido en el libroKinder-und Hausmärchen. Es el 1º largometraje realizado completamente en color. Para ello Disney uso el proceso de Technicolor, que yahabíausado en algunos cortometrajes. La banda sonora fue nominada en el rubro Mejor banda de sonido para los Premios Oscar y Waltrecibióun Oscar honorifico en 1940.

La historia trata sobre una joven llamadaBlancanieves, una princesa cuya piel es de un hermoso cutis blanco como la nieve, mejillas rosadas, labios rojos y un precioso cabello rojo.Su madrastra, la reina, alguien iniciada en las artes oscuras, era una mujer hermosa, perofría, yveíacon celo, el crecimiento de la princesa, quien cadadíase encontraba mas bella. De forma rutinaria, tenia un espejomágico, al cual le preguntaba quien era la mas bella del reino, ante la cual el espejo con verdad pregonaba que nohabíamujer mas bella que su majestad.

Pero undía, ante esta pregunta, el espejo cambio su respuesta y sentencio que su majestad era realmente muy bella, pero que la mas bella del reino, era Blancanieves, su hijastra. Estoacrecentósu intolerancia con la joven. Intolerancia que seconvirtióen odio. Ordeno a un cazador que la llevara al bosque y la matara. Pero este se apiado de la bella princesa, y dejo que se escondiera en el bosque.Corrió, asustada y solitaria tanto como pudo hasta que termino exhausta frente a una pequeña casita.

Agobiada como estaba, seacostóa dormir en una de las camas hasta que llegaron los dueños de casa. 7 enanos,simpáticosy laboriosos, quienes todos losdíastrabajaban en las minas de oro.Enterados de su desgracia, le ofrecieron cobijo y protección, esperanzados de que la reina jamas laencontraría. Pero esta enterada de quetodavíaseguíaviva,empezaríaunabúsquedapara lograr su cometido. Seguir siendo la mas bella del reino.
